Setting up shifts and the roster
- In Shifts, add each shift with start and end times, break, grace minutes, half-day rules and weekly offs. Mark one shift as the default.
- Give each employee their usual shift on their profile.
- In the Shift roster, pick one or more employees and a run of dates (up to a year at a time), and give them a different shift or a day off. You can keep their usual weekly offs as they are.
- Days not on the roster follow the employee's usual shift. Clearing the roster for some dates puts them back on it.
Shifts, attendance and leave
Late marks, half days and weekly offs are calculated from the shift on the roster for that day. Rostered days off are not counted as leave. Night shifts are kept on the day they started.
Overtime and late coming
Payroll can pay overtime from the hours worked beyond the shift. You set when it starts counting, the steps it is rounded in, a monthly cap, the hourly rate basis, and separate multipliers for working days and for weekly offs and holidays. Late marks can cut pay after a number of free late marks a month, either in days or as a fixed amount per mark. Both show as separate lines on the payslip.
Frequently asked questions
Can different people have different weekly offs?
Yes. Weekly offs are set per shift, and the roster can give anyone a day off on any date.
Can we move a whole team to night shift for a month?
Yes. Select the team on the shift roster, choose the night shift and the dates. Attendance for those days is worked out against the night shift.
Can staff ask for a shift change?
Yes, if you allow it. They choose the shift, the dates and a reason on the app, and it goes through your approval flow. Approved days go on the roster.
